1. Don’t Shower Too Much

I know taking shower every day is a hard habit to break since nobody likes feeling dirty. But if you shower every day you strip all the healthy oils from your skin.

After showering too much your skin no longer stays moisturized which leads to dry skin.

The best thing you can do to tackle dry skin is to shower only every other day, or you could take quick cold showers instead of staying in hot water all day. If you already have a dry skin you are only damaging your skin more by taking long and showers.

We do not need to shower each day, especially not with harsh chemicals and soaps. So make sure you only take quick and cold showers.

2. Avoid Hot Showers

Hot Water is the worst thing to use when your skin is dry. Hot water strips all the natural oils from your skin way faster compared to cold or normal temperature water.

It’s better to take cold showers if you want to tackle dry skin.

I know hot showers relax your muscles and give you a good night’s sleep but are it worth it if, in the long run, you are damaging your skin? You become more prone to wrinkles.

Always make sure you use soaps that aren’t too harsh and contain no fragrance and chemicals

3. Eat Healthy Foods

If you are trying to tackle dry skin then add foods rich in Omega-3s and high antioxidants.

What these antioxidants do is heal and repair your damaged skin cells faster. You can add healthy foods like tomatoes, blueberries, peas, carrots, beans, and lentils into your diet to get a smooth skin.

Fish like Salmon that is high in omega-3s fatty acids would help heal your dry skin fast as well.

4. Don’t Use Harsh Soap

These days most soaps and shower gels are filled with harsh chemicals that promise that they’d help get rid of dry skin but it isn’t true.

These soaps only make your dry skin worse. Use soaps that have no preservatives and fragrances like traditional soaps. They would not strip your skin of natural and healthy oils. So make sure you do not use soaps with harsh chemicals if you want to get rid of dry skin.

5. Moisturize, Moisturize and Moisturize

It is important that you always stay moisturized. If your skin isn’t producing enough sebum then you need to get the best moisturizer for your skin and always keep moisturizing.

The best type of moisturizers for dry skin are the ones that contain coconut oil and olive oil, or just use these oils naturally. You can also look for homemade lotion remedies online that would help heal your skin in no time.

  • Moisturize Right After You Shower: When you shower your body soaks up the moisturizer quicker compared to when you haven’t showered because of the open pores. Your body works as a sponge when you shower so always make sure you moisturize right after a shower to get the best results and heal dry skin. So the best time to moisturize is to do it right after showering.

6. Drink Plenty Of Water

This is the most commonly told tip when it comes to healing dry skin. Water is the best and easiest way you can heal dry skin.

Our body functions on water, and so does our skin. If you want to keep your skin hydrated and healthy you need to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

If you are dehydrated your skin would look flaky and dry and could cause more wrinkles to appear on your face. To get a glowing and smooth drink make sure you drink water.

7. Use a humidifier

Keep a humidifier at your home if you live in a dry environment. Most of the time the heating system in our homes causes our skins to dry out and it can be bad for our skin. Keeping a humidifier could help you tackle dry skin in no time.

A humidifier could bring back moisturize by 60% back into the air.

8. Exfoliate

Dry skin accumulates the most debris on our faces. Your face could have dead skin cells, dandruff, and a lot of dry particles that could make you look dull and old. Make sure you exfoliate with a scrub that isn’t too harsh at least twice a week to rub all the dead cells off your skin.

Always make sure you use a scrub especially for dry skin. And make sure to moisturize after.

9. Use a Good Sunscreen

If you cannot avoid the sun then make sure to wear sunscreen. Harsh sun rays are the worst thing for dry skin.

Dry skin already causes wrinkles and aging, the sun could trigger it even more. So make sure to always wear sunscreen when going out in the sun to avoid further damage to the skin. You should  know the right SPF that best suits your skin and tone.
